STANDARDS > MANAGEMENT INFORMATION SYSTEM (MIS) STANDARDS
Management Information Systems (MIS) Standards provide a national framework for collecting, reporting and using financial and statistical data related to the day-to-day operations of health service organizations in Canada. MIS Standards apply across the continuum of care including acute care, community based services and long term care. MIS Standards are developed, maintained and published by the Canadian Institute for Health Information (CIHI).
In this province, the Regional Health Authorities (RHAs) report all expenditures, as well as key statistical information related to the services they provide based on these standards. Support for the provincial implementation and maintenance of MIS Standards is provided by an extensive network of committees comprised of representatives from the Centre, the RHAs and the Department of Health and Community Services. The Centre’s MIS staff also offers educational support for MIS Standards and implementation of workload measurement and statistical data collection through in-services, workshops and direct consultation.
